MOTORCYCLE AIRBAG

Much discussed in the early years of its release, the motorcycle Airbag has been perfected to become a popular accessory among motorcyclists around the world. Developed by the most famous motorcycle riding gear brands, the first airbags were born to provide protection for professional riders, who tested them on circuits all over the world to refine activation algorithms and protective features.

MECHANICAL MOTORCYCLE AIRBAG

This version of the airbag is activated if you are thrown away from the vehicle. The cable, connected to any fixed and solid part of the bike, will in fact activate the firing pin. Once the CO2 cartiridge is pierced, the airbag inflate in a maximum time of 200 milliseconds. During the daily use, once you get off the bike, it will be sufficient to release the quick release buckle and then reconnect it once you are back on the bike. There are various models of mechanically operated airbags on the market: some are made exclusively for the protection of the back, others that instead have a more complete structure that covers the back, neck, chest and ribs.

ELECTRONICAL MOTORCYCLE AIRBAG

Electronic airbags are usually composed of:

• Support vest containing the air chambers.
• A back protector that encloses the control unit and the compressed air cartridges.

The control unit inserted in the back protector contains an algorithm developed with the help of professional riders. The various models have been tested on circuits and roads around the world to make them more precise and reliable. Some systems include the installation of sensors on the vehicle, others have an integrated GPS system that will detect your position. These systems study the path loaded in memory to predict the most dangerous routes. Other airbags are equipped with sensors (called accelerometers) that detect sudden changes in speed, activating the inflation cartridges, without the need to install any device on the bike.

ACTIVATION:

Once equipped in the prepared leather jackets or suits, the aribag will start working in the event of:

•      High-side
•      Loss of grip of the front wheel with consequent rolling
•      Frontal, lateral or rear impacts

The system will activate in a time between 30 and 60 milliseconds. Please note that at very low speeds, the airbag may not activate. Once inflated, some airbags are able to return to work even a second time, without being recharged. However, after the first or second outbreak (depending on the system), the airbag must be regenerated. Take your airbag to the closest authorized dealer for the regeneration of the system.
